For four nights, you will be staying at Finca Renovar, our comfortable retreat center (www.fincarenovar.org). Though it’s not a five-star hotel, we guarantee that its quaint and peaceful environment will provide you with a restful space for your stay. On Wednesday night, during the trip to Tolantongo, you will stay in a hotel suite. And the next day you will be lodging in a comfortable hotel in downtown Mexico City.

Yes. Over the past 15 years we’ve had more than 1,000 visitors without having a single security incident. You will always be accompanied by one of our guides to provide you with any important instructions or safety tips (advising where not take out your camera, what water to drink, etc).

While this trip involves some walking, there will be plenty of opportunities to stop or rest as needed. There are a few occasions where slightly longer walks will be required: During the trip to the Pyramids; Visiting a fragile urban community; Reaching the cave entrance in Tolantongo; Exploring the colonial town of Tequisquiapan; Strolling around the historic center of Mexico City; Visiting an Artisan Market. Ultimately, you choose how much you want to walk. Please let us know if you have any walking impediments that we should be aware of.

We will transport you in our private 14-seat Toyota Hiace Passenger Van and a Jeep Patriot for luggage. You won't need to use public transportation. If possible, please travel light.

We encourage you to travel light. Please note that our travelers are limited to one carry-on bag and personal item per person due to storage limitations on our passenger van. If you need to bring a checked bag, make sure you have a smaller bag available for our three-night outing to Tolantongo, Querétaro and Mexico City. Some airlines may impose additional charges if you exceed baggage size and weight restrictions. Be advised that you are responsible for any baggage fees incurred on all flights. Contact your airline(s) for baggage size and weight restrictions for your flights. Make sure you label your baggage and keep valuables, medication, and documents in your carry-on bag. Travelers must manage their own luggage throughout tour.

We recommend packing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that can be easily layered to accommodate varying temperatures, as well as a jacket and bathing suit. November can get cold, so please bring extra layers. A sturdy pair of walking shoes or sneakers is recommended for sightseeing. You may want to pack dressier attire if you plan to visit a high-end restaurant in Mexico City on Thursday night. It is preferable not to visit the urban community, churches or other religious sites with bare legs and shoulders (and entrance may be denied on this basis). We recommend packing a reusable water bottle to cut down on single use plastic waste, and packing your Insurance Card (from your primary insurance provider) in your carry-on luggage.

If you have dietary restrictions and/or food allergies, please notify us at least 15 days prior to your departure. If you have medication that you take daily, be sure you have enough for each day of the tour as well as any possible delays encountered. We will provide safe drinking water throughout your tour. No additional vaccinations are required for this trip. A basic health and accident insurance will be included in your trip cost for the duration of your stay.

Your Tour Director will be leading your group throughout your journey. You will have the same Tour Director throughout your tour. The role of the Tour Director is not only to provide information and context on the destinations you visit, but also to confirm services, coordinate inclusions, prepare each days’ activities and support travelers while on tour. As such, they must focus on the success of the group, and cannot provide constant individualized assistance to any one traveler.

When you travel with Camino Pathways, you’ll make a positive impact on the places you visit, and the people and you meet along the way. We encourage our travelers to limit their waste while on the road, especially single use plastics. You can avoid single use plastics by packing your own toiletries, using electronic documents, and bringing a reusable water bottle and shopping bag. If you need to use plastics or paper, please recycle. Environment: On this tour, we recommend the use of a reusable water bottle, as the local drinking water we provide is safe for travelers.
